Jury Duty Source |
Getting downtown right now can be a bit crazy because of all construction. I would suggest if you are going to downtown to serve jury duty you go earlier than expected. I gave myself an hour the first day and my parents live around 30 minutes away. It took me 50 minutes to get there. Bring a book or something to work on while waiting for the jury calls to begin. When you first report, you will check in with your papers and then sit down and wait for a judge come to say a few words. Around 9:30 PM or 10 PM, they begin roll call for jury duty.
After that, there is not much more I can say yet just relax and listen to instruction. They are excellent at helping walk you through the process and help you figure out what is going on. Most people with me had never done jury duty before and they helped us through the process. At the end of my duty, our case was dismissed. I was able to go home. Now, I know what to expect and where to go for jury duty. It will be interesting to see if I get selected again. Though, I am pretty sure I can't now for the next two years. Overall, I had an excellent encounter with the court house. For an added bonus, there are a ton of yummy places to eat around there. You also receive an hour and half for lunch.
