All images come from The Offering. I got my electronic copy from Scribd.
Notes: This is a grey area about Drona who cuts off the finger of a young pupil. This young student has been honing his skills under the gaze of a clay Drona. In the graphic novel picture above, it was interesting to see how far Drona would go to keep a promise and Arjuna was taken back by this act. I wonder how in my next storytelling I can take this exchange and make it modern. I almost want Ekalavya to come back stronger in a way. I am rooting for him but after this he sort of drops off the map. Maybe there is a story about what happens the rest of his life. I remember hearing bits and pieces.
This reminds me of college. Often, we don't need the guru aka professor and yet we say that what we learned was because of them. There are some professors that are excellent and you do need them. Most of the time, I find that I have to teach myself the material. We have a hybrid learning technique that never matches the teachings of the professor. Unless we are giving the reins to decide the method, we often have difficulty learning. I want to use the ideas and lessons from this image in one of my stories for my storybook.
Drona got his war knowledge from Parasurama. I hadn't known this from reading the Drona from the epics. Drona went to extreme lengths to obtain this. Before this though, he was in a drift with no direction. We are often like this until we find something we are curious about which sometimes turns into a passion.
Drona was arrogant early on. It is good to have confidence but never to be overly confident. Entrepreneurs with to much confidence can often run a company into the ground. Hopefully, he learned some humility this day and what hard work it takes to get to be the best.
